Curious Buildings 2. Asahikawa, Biei, Higashikawa.

Unique buildings that break the boring standard of our cities and towns.

It is wonderful to find these rare pearls in our walks.

biei round sloped curious house

Is it difficult to find furniture for a round house?
Sure the floors are not sloped, but how fun it would be!

Sometimes houses seem to have faces and look at us.

Does not it have a lovely duck face?

Why does everything have to be square?

Of course!

The Asahikawa Mosque?

asahikawa waste incinerator plant

No, it is a waste incinerator plant. Its energy is used to heat a pool.

Red brick is not widely used here.

asahikawa red brick industrial building

Only for industrial buildings and warehouses.
 This is a little scary.

And finally, these lovely survivors who resist surrounded, threatened, for how long?

Curious buildings. Higashikawa and Asahikawa.

A selection of buildings chosen not for their beauty.

Not so long ago houses were like this. This one was taken down   two weeks ago.

It is not Sagrada Familia but it is a temple. Simplicity can also be sacred.
